![]() ![]() ![]() All available horses have conformation shots, pedigrees, videos, and short summary available on their perspective pages. Horses are adopted out first come first serve to the approved adopter who proves to be a good fit. If travel prohibits an in-person visit, we offer video calls for adopters and their team to see the horses go and ask any questions to aid in a smooth transition of your OTTB into a new home. The Center places a high priority on the match between adopter and horse. Once approved, adopters are encouraged to travel to the Secretariat Center's campus in Lexington, KY to ride the horses prior to adopting. Many farms offer set hours for visitors, and several companies lead guided tours. Applications are forwarded to a Review Committee and evaluated based on the suitability of the applicant as a home for an off-track Thoroughbred from the Secretariat Center. Centered around Lexington but found all around the state, these farms are responsible for breeding, raising and training the magnificent horses that dominate the racetrack. The Center requires three (3) reference forms and facility photos as addendums to your adoption application.
