Prisoners are expected to die, the victim of starvation, horrible monsters, or simple despair. Everyone on the surface who speaks out, rebels, or doesn't fit in is sentenced to life imprisonment in Avernum. The surface is ruled by the Empire, a single, monolithic power under the command of the cruel Emperor Hawthorne. The Avernum series is based in Avernum, a subterranean nation far under the surface of the world. The game was released for Mac OS X on December 14, 2011, and in April 2012 for Microsoft Windows and the iPad. The game was re-released as a graphics and game engine update, and it addressed Avernum incompatibilities with newer versions of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and newer. It is the first game in the remade Avernum First Trilogy and the second ground-up rewrite of Exile: Escape from the Pit, released in 1995 (the first rewrite was Avernum, released in 2000). I'll be happy to offer more info if needed.ĮDIT: After fiddling around, I found out that "Play game in window" from the start-up options screen seems to remove the flickering.Avernum: Escape from the Pit is a role-playing video game developed by Spiderweb Software. I'd appreciate it a lot if somebody could help me. My graphics setup is as follows: ASUS VS228 flatscreen, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card (current drivers), Intel Core i5-2400 3.10 GHz CPU. I own the game on Steam, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1). I've had to change out the graphics card about two years ago, however, and I guess I haven't played it since then. I never had problems with Avernum on my machine before. I've tried changing the game area and resolution, that did not help. It's a bit as if those ground tiles were flickering. As soon as the game starts, the graphics are glitchy: every few seconds a random tile will "light up" by displaying a grey or black square. I just loaded up a new game of Avernum: EftP.
